Residential Charger Types
Just The Basics

AC Level 1
120-Volt, 3-5 mi per hour
All EVs come with some sort of charging equipment, most can use a common 120-volt home outlet. It gets the job done but is a little slow at 3-5 miles per hour. These work well for hybrid vehicles but electric vehicles have larger batteries which means a level 1 charge may have you needing more for daily vehicle use purposes.
AC Level 2
208 to 240-Volt, 12-80 mi per hour
The most commonly used level for those who use their vehicle daily, these can be found in public and at home. How fast you get juice depends on your vehicles charge rate and the power output of the charger. With a level 2 charger you may be able to charge up to 10X faster than a level 1, leaving you fully charged in the morning if you plug in at night.

Level 3 DC Fast Charge
400 to 900-Volt, 3-20 mi per minute
Sometimes called Superchargers, these direct current charging stations are the fastest way to get a charge. These come with a much higher voltage than level 1 or 2, which in turn come with a much higher price tag. Most residential areas don't have sufficient power to supply these chargers which is why you main see these chargers in high traffic public areas or industrial and commercial settings.
